The Critical Care - Intensivist - Physician serves as the Program Director for a newly accredited Medical Critical Care fellowship at Banner University Medical Center and the University of Arizona. Responsibilities include patient care in medical ICUs, teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, alongside managing division call obligations. The ideal candidate has over five years of experience, is fellowship-trained in Critical Care Medicine, and is board-certified in the specialty, contributing to a nationally recognized healthcare program.

Critical Care Fellowship Program Director and Academic Critical Care Physician - BUMG and University of AZ

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix (BUMC-P) and the University of Arizona College of Medicine- Phoenix (COM-P) invites applications to join our group of 22 faculty dedicated to outstanding patient care and training the next generation of physicians. The physician will serve as the Program Director for our newly accredited Medical Critical Care fellowship, perform patient care duties in the medical ICUs and will share in division call obligations. The Medical Critical Care fellowship joins a mature Surgical Critical Care fellowship, Pulmonary & Critical Care fellowship and collaborates with the CV ICU and Neuro ICU programs. All physicians are required to hold a COM-P faculty title commensurate with academic experience. Teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents and fellows is an expectation of faculty. The Division has subspecialty programs in pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, interventional pulmonology, COPD and asthma. BUMC-P is nationally recognized for providing exceptional patient care and is consistently ranked highly by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital boasts high volume liver and cardiac transplant programs, a mobile ECMO program and a robust clinical translational research portfolio.

Position Details/Requirements:

  • Must have prior teaching experience or have held an Assistant Program Director role
  • Ideal candidate has 5+ years of post-fellowship experience
  • Fellowship trained in IM/Critical Care Medicine or Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine
  • Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine
  • Inpatient ICU coverage and call
  • History of publications with trainees and/or clinical trial experience
