The general pay scale for this position at MOH is $69,074.45 - $106,268.38 per year. The actual salary depends on factors such as experience, education, responsibilities, location, and performance. Scope This role involves providing genetics counseling and education to individuals with a family history of cancer, analyzing family medical histories, developing statistical models for risk assessment, coordinating laboratory and diagnostic testing, and supporting clinical research in cancer genetics. Adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program is required. Responsibilities Provide genetic counseling regarding risk factors, inheritance, and genetic concepts. Collect medical and family histories from various sources. Develop models to analyze inheritance patterns and identify at-risk individuals. Coordinate genetic testing, including insurance and physician referrals. Follow up with patients and assist in referrals. Maintain educational resources and may present to community groups. Participate in cancer genetics research studies and recruit patients for trials. Qualifications Masters degree in Medical Genetics or Counseling from an accredited program, with clinical experience. Minimum five years' experience preferred, along with oncology experience. Certification from the American Board of Genetics Counseling or eligibility is required. Physical Demands Must be able to sit, handle, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Vision and hearing should be within normal ranges. Work Environment Potential exposure to communicable diseases and medical conditions common in oncology settings. Frequent interaction with patients, families, and staff. Some travel may be required.
