Job Description

Under the general direction of the Resource Development Manager, the Geologic Assistant assists with digitizing the Company's geologic records and updating the geologic interpretation software system for current mineral assets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

  • Digitize well logs for indefinitely confidential wells on ASRC Lands.
  • Responsible for current oil and gas asset confidential data loads including well logs, 2D seismic, and 3D seismic
  • Interpret key seismic horizons for currently developed fields and any known exploration targets
  • Well log correlation of important stratigraphic sequences such as flooding surfaces and sequence boundaries.
  • Create a synthetic seismogram for all exploration and development wells and create well log ties to 2D and 3Dseismic.
  • Responsible for the Resource Development Team's data management, including scanning projects and archiving initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, planning documents, and proposals.
  • Travel in aircraft (jets, small planes, and helicopters), motor vehicles, ATVs, and/or watercraft to perform fieldwork, site visits, or meetings.
  • Assist with special projects and provide general administration support.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, and successful completion of related college-level geologic courses.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
  • Two (2) years of geologic, geotechnical, or other related experience required.
    • Additional education may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Skill in the use of the following software programs at an intermediate level:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Visio
    • Microsoft Access
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to interpret and refer information requests and follow specific instruction and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geological Sciences or another related field preferred.
  • Experience using IHS Kingdom geologic interpretation software or another related software program preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
