Summary of Affiliate Responsibilities:
1) Responsible for developing site analysis documents, site design studies, site plan review, and alternatives for a wide range of projects related to the overall campus short term and long term development. Expectations including develop detailed design documents for site development projects including; site demolition, grading, layout, planting plans and specifications that can be used to solicit prices from contractors and provide for project construction; reviewing landscape design and construction documents submitted by outside design firms for work at College Park and at the client institutions and provide project management support for site projects at College Park and at the client institutions; assisting in the development of landscape architectural guidelines and campus standards; and assisting in storm water management projects as needed.
2) Provide expertise and analysis to develop conceptual design site studies in both computer and hand drawn formats, detailed construction site design documents, storm water management and site environmental planning efforts as needed; and presentations for in house landscape architectural and site projects.
3) Develop scopes of work, project schedules and budget estimates, and solicitations for services. Participate in the evaluating of credentials, references, fees and services.
4) Review and evaluate change order requests from vendors, and provides back-up as necessary for the approval of contract modifications.
5) Provide technical expertise in the design review of campus site, storm water, and environmental projects for Facilities Management when outside consultants are utilized. Provides Landscape Architectural oversight and assistance for Facilities Management staff during construction projects as needed.
6) Provide support to P&C-Technical Support’s quality assurance unit with respect to updates to the Design Criteria/Facility Standards (DC/FS) areas associated with Landscape Architecture, storm water management, and site specific design. Research options and alternatives for campus design standards as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
– Facilities Management – Department of Planning and Construction Request for Task Order Proposal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Possess knowledge in the areas of master planning, project planning, site analysis, and conceptual and detailed design, scope and budget determination. Possess conventional hand drawing/sketching and drafting skills. • Possess knowledge and experience in landscape project translation from planning concepts through project implementation and understanding of the standards, materials and elements of landscape design. Possess an understanding of ADA compliance issues, use familiarity with the use of woody plants of the Mid-Atlantic Region and experience in the planning and design for site grading, drainage and hardscape. • Possess knowledge of environmental issues, including general familiarity with State of Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and Department of Natural Resources (DNR); such as an understanding and applicability of: - the Environmental Site Design (ESD) requirements and technologies; - storm water management and bio-retention planning: and - the Maryland DNR Forest Conservation Act, including afforestation and reforestation issues related to landscape projects. • Ability to produce multiple projects and collaborating with project team members. Expected to consult with and work in collaboration with multiple client/stakeholders, various FM departmental staff, and consultants, as applicable. • Ability to communicate effectively (oral, written, graphic and analytical) to multidisciplinary groups, and other planning, design and construction professionals. • Possess knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Power Point, Illustrator, Photo Shop InDesign, Sketch up, Microsoft Suite, and Revit for Landscape architects
