Job Description

Insight Global is currently hiring an entry-level Microbiologist for a large client in the Ashland, VA area. This role will start as a 4 month contract with the opportunity to get extended or convert permanently based on performance! This position requires working onsite Monday through Friday during standard works hours. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry and experience working in laboratory information management systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry
• Familiarity with LIMS
• Proficient in documentation, computing (Microsoft excel, word, etc.), and communication skills

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform microbiological analysis, including preparation of samples using aseptic techniques to identify and determine quantities of different bacterial populations and communicate with supervisor on findings
• Running the Flow Cytometer, DNA extraction instrumentation, and thermocyclers for various microbiological samples on a daily basis
• Record and input sample data into LIMS
• Keep track of testing supply numbers and report to supervisor when supplies need to be ordered
• Attend bi-weekly department meetings
• Participate in safety audits
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including a laboratory coat, gloves, and safety glasses when in the lab space
