Job Summary
Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who will provide leadership for assessment, planning, coordinating, implementation and evaluation of orientation, new graduate residency, in-services and educational training for Sovah Health. Functions in the role of a teacher, facilitator and internal consultant to departments within the organization.
Responsible for operations, oversight, and supervision of the simulation laboratory. The Director will plan operations of the simulation laboratory and work collaboratively with the education team and external stakeholders to ensure safe and effective use of the Simulation lab. Other duties include advising students, serving on committees, and participating in education activities.
• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
• Manages the orientation, training and instruction of new employees and the continued education and training of existing employees and Sovah Health contract staff.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Develops, coordinates, conducts and evaluates organization-wide staff development programs, seminars, conferences, etc.; coordinates ACLS, BLS, and PALS classes for staff.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
• Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
• Develops and directs in-services and continuing education for organization personnel; interacts staff, nurse and department managers to determine and to coordinate educational needs and programs.
• Work in collaboration with external partners to establish and grow relationships to enhance program.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education
Current licensure as Registered Nurse (RN). Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree required. Minimum of five years’ experience in professional nursing in which leadership ability has been demonstrated; two years of management or leadership experience preferred.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Accepts responsibility and accountability to operations of the department. Exhibits mastery of verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with administration, physicians, nursing staff, and all other customers of the hospital maintaining a high standard of professional ethics.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association preferred
Minimum Work Experience
Experience in development of educational programs and in application of the teaching-learning process in a healthcare education department preferred.
