Sewing Machine Operator – Aviation Emergency Equipment
JOB DESCRIPTION
Aviation Inflatables is seeking a skilled and experienced individual to independently set up and operate sewing machines. This role is responsible for maintaining production standards through effective job planning, organization, and consistent quality monitoring.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate sewing machines to assemble aviation emergency equipment products
Utilize commercial and industrial single- and double-needle sewing machines
Collaborate with manufacturing personnel as needed
Conduct safety audits of the work area to ensure compliance
Monitor sewing operations for issues such as thread breaks, defective stitching, or machine malfunctions
Support cross-training efforts for new hires
Identify and recommend improvements to standard work procedures and blueprint instructions through proper channels
Report product discrepancies and equipment malfunctions to the lead or supervisor
Investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and propose effective solutions or recommendations
Promote workplace safety by proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards
Perform additional duties as assigned and be available to work overtime when required
Lift up to 15 lbs as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of one year sewing experience using commercial equipment
Ability to distinguish various stitch lengths
Proficient in using electric cutters and scissors
Skilled at identifying root causes of fabric errors
Willingness to learn and adhere to quality procedures and specifications
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints for daily tasks
Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously
Communicates effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
Flexible and available to work overtime as needed
